The new record from the Ne'er Do Evers will be called "100% Wrong."
It was recorded and mixed by the Ne'er Do Evers with Steve Salett and Jim Smith at SaltLands studio in Brooklyn.
It's coming out end of October on EndUp.
Copies of 100% Wrong will be available at the next Ne'ers show, which is November 7th at Bar Matchless in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
Matt Moon sings on it.
Doug Chayka is doing the cover art, and Bernie DeChant will have photos in there and some hand in the layout process (Bernie currently has a show up at the Fall Cafe, 307 Smith St in Brooklyn... yeah, the place in the Village Voice article... go check it out...)

Hey all.
Not much been cooking since the Gov's Island thing (though from what I understand, the people who did participate had a heck of a time.) Me and Jason went on tour with Balthrop, Alabama, that was amazing. When we got back, Matt and Mike and I got together to do some more overdubs on some recordings of new songs. We're slated to go into Saltlands studio early next month, so who knows what the fate of those little home made studio recordings will be. Maybe print em both, confuse the hell out of people, and not tell em! Let em just buy the record and see what version they end up with...
Nah.
Not to give away too many spoilers, but we're looking at 9 songs, should clock in just over 30 mins. No idea for a name. Someone say something stupid.
Also, we might partner up with some family when we put this out, so check back, who knows where it'll EndUp.
In short, total stokage. No gigs to report as of yet. Don't get your hopes up for anything before September. In the meantime, feast your takin' in muscles on these, from our May 29 show at Goodbye Blue Monday. Both these songs are gonna be on the new album.

First off, thanks to everyone who came out and saw us last night at Tommy's Tavern. It was a humdinger of a rock show... my heart breaks for all the people who couldn't stay for the bands after us, Organized Sports and Cleveland's Mystery of Two. They were, and are, great (it was late, though, midnight by the time we finished....) Y'all are troopers.

So the Ne'ers are cropping up in the interwebs. Here's Jana Martin's blog about us:

And evidently we got some airplay back in January on Mix Tape Radio, WUSB Stony Brook, 90.1 FM. It's on every Wed, 12am-3am. We're in there with Prodigy and Rainer Maria. Hmm. Cool. Go write them immediately and tell them to play us some more.

Alright, so, in recent news, holy shit! Neerdos.com is almost completely up and running. I haven't sent out a grand announcement with shouting and flags, so consider this a soft opening, if you will. Once I'm done with the mega-MP3 section, there will be a formal email/bulletin.

The next Ne'er Do Evers gig will be April 26 at Tommy's Tavern, in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. We'll be joined by our good friends in Heap, Mystery of Two (from Cleveland, OH), and Organized Sports. Show starts at 10 pm, so come on out and rock your weekend. Yep, I said ROCK.

In the meantine, there's gonna be a Balthrop, Alabama show at Joe's Pub April 18 (Balthrop is, as you may well know, a band that Jason, Matt and myself are all in...) We're fairly sure that it'll sell out on the heels of our "God Loves My Country" single, so grab them tickets in advance! Like, now! (Skeedaddle on over to balthropalabama.com for more details...)

So, here's some news, as of 1/20/08....

New songs! We've got about 4 new songs pretty firmly packed down (like brown sugar, think brown sugar....) and one or two more that need some work but look pretty promising. They've been arranged, to varying degrees, as a group, which is new for us. We're planning on starting to record them at the end of this month. The fate of those recordings will lie in their quality, but there is talk of having a record done sometime between May and July.

Next gig! That would be Feb 9, 8pm, at Bar Matchless in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, right off of the Nassau stop on the G. We'll be opening for Tavo Carbone and Big Bang TV (S Rich will open for us...) I predict awesomeness, and the performance of at least a few of the aforementioned new songs.

Entirely too personal! So, like, over the last two days I've been at my job for a full shift and rode my exercise bike for a grand total of an hour. I have not, however, showered.

Got in last night around 3:30 am from our Philly-Cleveland-Rochester-Kingston micro tour (and i was the first to get dropped off.. everyone got home later..)
I have to thank the following people for making this little jaunt totally awesome:

-Mike O, Adrienne, Jaynova + The Otter, Evan, Will, and Matt's Friends in Kingston (can't remember their names.. sorry!) for providing some much needed familiar faces at these shows.
-All the people at the shows who were generous enough to pull money out their pockets and hand it to us for the road. It means a lot, and it helped a lot.
-The good people at Motel 6.
-Nathaniel Rochester's daughter's accountant's house for being so awesome.
-The Hertz NeverLost computer lady for getting us around and having such a calm voice.

Idiot Garden will be available for download via Snocap at the very least promptly on October 26. Our Snocap store is the weird lookin gray thing on our MySpace page (which also features sneak previews of the record.) You should be able to get it as a CD from CDBaby.com at the same time, if not shortly thereafter. The CD will have a bonus track, and will also be available at shows or by arranging a rendez vous with mesomewhere in NYC. And I just LOVE how cloak-and-dagger that sounds.

Yeah, we're playing. See those special guests on that Abe Lincoln Jr flier? That's Capt. Tom and the Leader. So let me rephrase that.... FUCK YEAH.
Other little interesting points I should bring up here, we will be playing sans drummer and compensating for that sonically, so if you were ever curious about what my singing voice sounds like and missed the acoustic stuff I did a couple of months ago, this is your chance! Though to stress, it will NOT be acoustic... all Ne'ers are playing.
Also, this is the last gig we have planned until the end up October, when we do the Idiot Garden CD release. We will have a drummer for that. I hope.

There is nothing happening. Nada.
Okay, not really, actually last week we went to practice only to discover a scheduling snafu with the "by-the-hour" rehearsal pad we use in Williamsburg. We were down for the 13th. So we went and drank some beer instead. I think it was our best practice yet!
Oooh! And just yesterday the rarest of rare things happened, i went to a stoop sale that actually had CDs i'd be interested in! I really couldn't justify spending the money, but shit, how often does that happen?? So i bought these fancy titles:
1)Black Sabbath's Greatest Hits
2)The Band- Music from Big Pink (almost typed big punk... ooooh! next record title after IG!)
3)Neutral Milk Hotel - some little 4 song ep (pretty much bought for Mo)
4)Built to Spill- Perfect from Now On
5)Flaming Lips- that earlier one with "she don't use jelly" on it... i often feel like they justify everything i want to do on record with that early stuff...
6)REM- Eponymous (pretty much bought for when Mo's not around... NOT an REM fan)
7)Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' Greatest Hits
Also just lately i bought Kyle's old Ampeg Gemini I amp (not at the stoop sale.) So now i'm gonna be louder and more vintagey. i was telling my friend Margaret that i'm worried it's a penile "mike's amp is bigger than mine" thing, but damn man, when i look at Ne'ers pics, my fender looks like a kiddie amp!
And yes, the road i'm on does indeed lead to Marshall stacks... on the horizon....
All this reminds me to reassure you, don't be scared about the show at Rocketship on the 30th. There will be FREE EARPLUGS that night, i just bought a box of 200 pairs, so assuming there's not 200 people there, you got a pair waitin for ya! Super-stoked about the show by the way... Rocketship parties are always awesome, lots of cool people, beer, this time around my folks will be in from Canton, OH...
Speaking of awesome people, here's a message for people going to Rocketship... DON'T SIT ON THE COMIC BOOKS!!! OKAY?? I personally don't care if you don't have a place to sit, these people are kind enough to ply you with free drinks in their store and put on a kick ass event selling kick ass books... which should NOT be under your ass! Also, don't put your drinks on them, don't put food on them... they are trying to SELL these things, thank you.
And if you ever read this, which you probably won't, you most likely will not know who you are. You are that big of an asshole.

Hey all... (^ne'ers at sputnik, courtesy mo....)
In lieu of an upcoming Ne'ers gig (nothing till June 30th at Rocketship), lemme give you some updates to get all hot 'n' bothered over...
First off, we're pulling together the art right now for Idiot Garden, which will be the 4th record of Buckridge tunes, second under the name Ne'er Do Evers, and second release on Make Friends Hour. Like Vessels, you'll be able to get it on CDBaby as well as iTunes, Rhapsody, and lots of other places. Look for it in late October, followed by some promo gigs (hopefully one or two out of town).... if y'all have any recommendations as to where to send it for playing/reviews, pass em along.
(this is what the first Ne'ers record looked like... how many of y'all got this? you can still download it on Last.fm for FREE, motherfucker!)

Also talking about building us a proper Ne'ers website, with the help of our friend Jane. It will hopefully be full of demos, merch, pics, and other assorted goodies... I'll let you know as soon as that goes up.
In the meantime, I'm going to try and write some more material. It's a slow and meandering process for me, usually only spurned on by a recording bug (wanna record, but don't have any new material...) and I think I'm starting to feel the bite. It looks like the Ne'ers are gonna get their own practice space in the next few months (FINALLY) so who knows what that will bring?

Me, I just started a book called the Pirate Coast. It's about the Barbar pirates and Thomas Jefferson's administration in 1803. Mo says my book sounds boring and Michael Arthur says it sounds like homework. I defy you, Mo and Michael Arthur, to find me subject matter MORE interesting than Thomas Jefferson, real live pirates, and America's FIRST foreign secret ops mission... to overthrow Tripoli!

Help Roy Orbison Get On a Stamp

Some time ago, probably while looking for a Roy Orbison tshirt or something, I came accross a petition to put Mr. Orbison on a postage stamp.
I was horrified..... out of all these schmucks (and I'm thinking of Elvis here, not Martin Luther King who I would NEVER call a schmuck, you see what I'm saying) to get on a postage stamp, they passed over Roy?? How can this be? Didn't Chuck Berry get a stamp? Didn't he get busted for taking an underage girl over state lines? What the hell?? Besides being the most effectual hangover treatment I personally have found, Roy also seemed like a good guy. Well, good enough for Johnny Cash to say some awful sweet things about in his autobiography, and well, if that isn't a winning endorsement, what is?
Roy was cool. Roy was beautiful. All those things the boys and girls say about Jeff Buckley? Yeah. Go to Roy. But first, go here and sign the petition to put him on a US postage stamp. We all know it's the right thing to do.

This was actually Rainer's final gig, at Northsix in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, last December. What you can see? My bitchin Brak sticker. What you can't see? I am amazingly happy this guitar was able to share such a significant (albeit abusive) moment with one of my best friends.

now, that's at the Parkside Lounge, at 317 E Houston at the corner of Attorney in Manhattan... take the F train to Delancey, walk up Essex to Houston, and hook a right. walk a few blocks, and walk on in the Parkside... we'll be in the back room, waiting for ya....
